After vaguely worrying and/or being irritated as to why Aardwolf has been down for the last hour, I'm reminded that the server is in fact in Orlando. I'm informed that Lash managed to get the place backed up before the power went, and I imagine it'll be back up before long. Assuming the building it's in is still standing and stuff.

Just thought I'd mention it for anyone who wasn't aware ;)

There was a post on mudconnector about it being down. It could be a few days before it is back up. :(

Still, hope Lash and Ayla are OK.

It'll be up as soon as possible assuming that Lash and family are okay (which I desperately pray they are). I haven't been on much, but now that it's down I find myself dying to get on. Go figure.

Yah. In the meantime, I'll just hang out on Pogo or something ;)

Last night we were taking bets on whether or not the servers blew away.

It's his own fault for not buying the upgrade first. The extra weight would have held it down ;)

aardabel: It's down

Someone sent a message out to TCM and other players to keep flying about that orlando's power is going to be out for (best case) 3 days (worse case) 7 days...

ogake: Repost of Lasher's message on TMC

Aardwolf Posted: Aug. 14 2004,21:41

Just a quick note for Aardwolf players wondering why the MUD is down - we are based in Orlando, Florida and got took a direct hit from Hurricane Charley last night. The hardware itself is fine, and so are we, but we are completely without power. Progress Energy's current estimates for power restoration are best case - 3 days, worst case - 7 days. We don't have a generator but even if we did nowhere in the city has fuel either.

I will not have net access until the power comes back on so would appreciate if someone would keep bouncing this so it stays on the front page and players are notified (sorry for the spam everyone else). Would also appreciate if someone would cross-post this to TMC.

We'll be back as soon as possible, sorry for the inconvenience.

aarddarkie: for those who may not know

if you goto topmudsites there is a link for an aard chat/mud Lasher has been on there, his family is ok . they stayed home the first 2 days thru the hurricane and storms.
He and family are currantly at a friends house with power.
Damage on his house was nothing significant.

It could be up to 10 days before they get power back for the mud unfortunatly.

if anyone is interested add me to your yahoo we also have aardwolf chat confrences with some of the imms , players alike.
just add me as aarddarkie

(Anonymous): Re: for those who may not know

Could someone PLEASE post this info on newsgroups searchable by google news? It took me two days to find this info about power outage. I found this site through Yahoo :) not Google. It's good to know that everyone is all right.

Can't say I check Usenet an awful lot, and the bits I do check don't involve MUDs (mostly the rec.games.roguelike bits). As one of the mods of this wee group, I wouldn't like to take the job on of crossposting there, but if anyone feels like shifting relevant post to rec.games.mud.announce or whatever the appropriate group is, feel free.

For future reference, I'd say the two places most likely to post news about such things would either be MUDconnector or Top MUD Sites, especially the latter, as we have an active voting thing going on there. MUDconnector also has a proxy system so you can check if the MUD is really up, rather than there just being a dodgy router between you and it.

Compared to those two sites, this LJ forum is a poor man's third choice. We're only here for idle gossip and speculation, really ;)
